When I hear that bretons are not open to the outside world, I always think of the Mondial’Folk event in Plozevet.
The 3rd week of August every year, the city of Plozevet (less than 3000 permanent residents) hosts a musical and dancing event gathering around 800 artists from all over the world and delivers the message ‘all different, all equals’.
Being international since 1983, the Mondial Folk event is never the same and the atmosphere is extremely warm despite the unpredictable weather. I always admire the artists especially the ones coming from tropical countries, dancing around the city trying to ignore the slapping wind or rain or both at the same time J but this is what Mondial Folk is all about, the absolute love of differences and the desire to share and learn from each other!
30 000 visitors can enjoy every year many free activities, another mark of openness and wish for the communities to share their folklore to everyone, so I invite you to come this year and discover these 6 days of unstoppable dancing and singing (not always in the rain!)
Mondial’Folk here we go!
